Four levels and the SP Score

AI Explorer, AI Operator, AI Builder and AI Transformer in plain words, the typical SP Score of each level and what levels are not.

5 min read

Your level says what you really do with AI in your work: whether you try it, use it regularly, build routines with it, or change how your whole job runs. The SP Score™ (the Superpowered Professional score from 0 to 100) then shows where you stand inside the level. A level is not a grade, and an AI Operator is not a worse professional than an AI Builder.

Four levels

L0AI Explorer

You try AI, but have no steady work habit yet.

Typical SP Score™0–24
L1AI Operator

You use AI regularly and can give context and refine the output.

Typical SP Score™25–45
L2AI Builder

You turn repeated work into workflows, templates, assistants or tools.

Typical SP Score™45–78
L3AI Transformer

You change a whole way of working, an agenda or an operating model.

Typical SP Score™72–96

AI Explorer (L0)

You are trying AI, but there is no stable work habit yet. You use it now and then, with single questions and no follow-up refining, and you have no saved routine. The typical SP Score is 0–24. What moves you on is regular use on concrete work tasks.

AI Operator (L1)

You use AI regularly, give it context and refine the output. You have two or three concrete work tasks where you use it, and you improve the result over several rounds. But you start from zero every time. The typical SP Score is 25–45. What moves you on is a routine, template or assistant that you reuse.

AI Builder (L2)

You turn repeated work into workflows, templates, assistants or tools. What you create with AI, you use again next time. Code and custom apps are not required. The typical SP Score is 45–78. What moves you on is changing how a whole recurring part of your work runs.

AI Transformer (L3)

You change the whole way you work, a whole area of your job or an operating model. You can describe a clear before and after for that whole area, and a system is your default way of working. The typical SP Score is 72–96. What counts is how much of your work you change, not how many people report to you.

SP Score inside a level

SP™ Score
63/ 100L2 Builder
  • Explorer0–24
  • Operator25–45
  • Builder45–78
  • Transformer72–96

The same level can have a different score. The number shows whether you are at the start, the middle or near the next level of Builder.

The number from 0 to 100 shows where you are inside your level: at the start, in the middle or close to the next level. The same level can have different scores. One AI Builder is just setting up a first assistant, while for another the routines have been running for weeks.

The bands overlap on purpose, so a strong AI Operator can have a higher number than a weak AI Builder. That is why your level is set from examples in your work. The SP Score says the most at a new test, when you see your improvement in points even if the level stayed the same.

What levels are not

An AI Explorer has not failed, it is a starting point. An AI Operator is not just a beginner, and a strong one does very good work with AI. An AI Builder does not need to code. An AI Transformer is not a title for managers: a specialist without a team can be an AI Transformer if AI changed how their key work gets done, and a manager is not one automatically. The SP Score is not a grade for a person.
